Special Accommodations at Commencement

For information regarding disability access at UC Santa Barbara please visit our Accessibility Resources page.

Livestreaming & Closed Captioning

Commencement ceremonies will be presented via YouTube livestream and have closed captioning. Please check back in June for the link.

ASL Interpreters

Sign language interpreters are available upon request for Commencement ceremonies. Please contact the Office of Event Management & Protocol at (805) 893-2117 or email commencement@ia.ucsb.edu to make arrangements once your student has reserved their ceremony.

Sun-Sensitive Seating

Our Commencement site is outdoors and Santa Barbara weather in June tends to be unpredictable. In case of a warm day, a very limited amount of shaded tent seating is available. We ask that parties limit the use of these tents to two guests. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.

Alternative Viewing Location

Indoor accommodations, broadcasting the ceremony livestream, for those with disabilities and the elderly will be available. Seating is on a first-come first-served basis.

Shuttles - Saturday & Sunday

For guests with mobility issues, transportation shuttles will be available at University Plaza, Lot 10, Lot 38 Bus Loop, and Lot 23 on Commencement Weekend.

Restrooms

Accessible portable restrooms are located on-site between Hatlen Theater and the Arts Building.

Wheelchairs

Due to the size of campus and slope of the Commencement site, guests who have mobility issues may want to consider bringing a wheelchair for this event.

ADA Parking

Commencement guests displaying an officially issued disabled placard or license plate should follow the blue signs to accessible parking.
