Grad Walk Directions & Parking

For Grad Walk participants and guests on June 7 - 10, 2021, there will be no parking fees collected in the pre-designated Grad Walk parking areas. 

Traveling South on the U.S. 101 Freeway

Take the Storke Road/Glen Annie Road exit off U.S. 101 approximately 12 miles north of Santa Barbara.

Turn right on Storke Road and proceed two miles to El Colegio Road.

Turn left on El Colegio Road and proceed to the campus entrance.

Follow Commencement parking signs to available parking.

Traveling North on the U.S. 101 Freeway

Take the Airport/UCSB exit [Highway 217] off U.S. 101 to the campus entrance approximately eight miles north of Santa Barbara.

Follow Commencement parking signs to available parking.

For important updates, please visit the Transportation & Parking Services website and tune into AM 1610 within two miles of campus for traffic information.

Follow signs to parking in designated areas

Due to the potential impact on parking during the event, please follow the Commencement Parking signs to parking in designated areas as directed by event staff. No parking fees will be collected on June 7 - 10, 2021 for Grad Walk participants and guests in the designated parking areas. Once parked, follow the Grad Walk/Commencement pedestrian signs to the venue.

Rideshare Drop-Off

  • Graduates being dropped off by Lyft or Uber can proceed to Parking Structure 22 and follow the “Rideshare Drop-Off” signage. 

Short Term Grad Walk Parking (45-minutes maximum)

  • Parking Structure 22
  • No parking fees collected if the 45-minute time limit is respected.
  • Parking in 22 Structure is not guaranteed so be prepared to arrive early and walk to the venue.
  • Gauchos: If you park in this Short Term Parking structure, please respect the 45-minute time limit by being mindful of your fellow graduates who are trying to get to Grad Walk on time. If you expect to need to park for more than 45 minutes, please park in Long Term Grad Walk Parking Structure 18 (Mesa).
  • If Parking Structure 22 becomes full, all vehicles will be diverted to long-term or overflow parking by traffic directions. Parking fees will not be collected at these alternate parking lots. 

Long Term Grad Walk Parking (more than an hour)

  • Parking Structure 18 (Mesa)
  • No parking fees collected
  • For planning purposes, please be prepared to walk ½ mile. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
  • If Parking Structure 18 becomes full, all vehicles will be diverted to overflow parking by traffic directors. Parking fees will not be collected at these alternate parking lots. 
     

Grad Walk guests displaying an officially issued disabled placard or license plate should follow the blue signs to accessible parking in Structure 22 reserved for disabled guests.

The UCSB Alert system is intended to enhance and promote safety on campus by providing community members and visitors with timely access to important information. Visitors who would like to receive temporary access to UCSB Alerts can subscribe to our NIXLE channel by texting UCSBAlert to 888777. (Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.)

Temporary subscriptions to UCSBAlert expires at 9:00am the following day, but can also be canceled by replying STOP at any time. Visitors must renew subscriptions to continue receiving alerts after they expire.

For alerts and information about incidents that occur outside of Clery geography (e.g., Isla Vista, Goleta, Santa Barbara) the campus community is encouraged to sign up for Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency alerts in Goleta or Santa Barbara. For additional information on the UCSB Alert system please visit the UC Santa Barbara Police Department website.
