The conference will bring together scholars from around the globe to examine the notion of "foundational texts" in world literature. All conference events are open to the public.

Organized in Los Angeles in 1969, Catolicos Por La Raza was part of the Chicano movement and focused its civil rights struggle on pressuring the Catholic Church to become more sensitive and supportive of its large Chicano Catholic population. This conference will honor the founding of the organization.
