UCSB on the Web - There From the Beginning
Created in the mid-1960's, UCSB's On-Line System was one of the earliest computer networks. Because of the strength of the On-LineSystem, UCSB was chosen as one of the four original sites for the ARPAnet,
the oldest network comprising the modern Internet.
UCSB's Web Site
Thanks to the dynamic nature of the web, we are able to make enhancements to UCSB's web site on an ongoing basis. Many of these changes are based on feedback sent to the Webmaster, so
contact us . Periodically, we perform a substantial redesign of the site that allows us to significantly re-engineer it to streamline navigation and improve usability.
This edition of UCSB's web site was introduced in the fall of 2010. Its goal is to provide users with easy navigation to web sites and resources offered by UCSB.
Features of Note
The home page now has headlines linking to dedicated pages for news stories, events, and campus topics, which will be updated frequently.
